ONLINE PROGRAM: Windows In Time Presents "Our Search for Historic Markers in Jackson County" Online
Please note, this event will take place remotely via Zoom. Zoom meeting details will be emailed to you when you register.
Both Linda and Peter Kreisman grew up in Ashland. They left in 1961 and spent their careers in Minnesota. When they returned to Ashland for retirement, they began a search for the seemingly mythical Buck Rock Railroad Tunnel they had heard about while growing up. When they finally found one end of the tunnel, there was a historical marker giving information about the site. This started them on a search for other such markers, and over the past 12 years, Peter and Linda have found over 90 sites and markers. The sites represent historic transportation routes, town sites, military and Native American sites, and cemeteries. In their Windows in Time presentation, Linda and Peter will present a variety of the sites they have found in Jackson County.
The monthly Windows in Time lunchtime lectures feature well-known writers and historians, and bring alive the people, values, and events that shaped our Southern Oregon heritage. Lectures are jointly sponsored by the Southern Oregon Historical Society (SOHS) and Jackson County Library Services.
