Scott Goode - Nourishing Systems - Engaging Natural Systems to Guide Cultivation and Land Use Planning

Join us for a presentation from Scott Goode of Nourishing Systems. Scott is a retired environmental scientist who worked in water treatment, bioremediation, and modeling the role of environmental factors in soil chemistry. He is currently developing carbon sequestration and petroleum-free farming technologies.

As we acquire the tools that allow us to explore natural systems down to the microscopic and molecular level, it becomes clear that these systems are connected by intricate symbiotic associations that link lifeforms and landscapes, with global processes like climate and ecological succession. This presentation will lay out the major players, patterns, and relationships that compose these natural systems. With an understanding of these systems, we can begin to work with them and create resilient and sustainable food production and natural resource management practices. The answers to many of our major challenges are demonstrated in the natural world; all we have to do is understand what nature has to share and follow its lead.
