Alphabet Hour, 2+ YRS
Alphabet Hour is a weekly program jam-packed with free-wheeling early literacy fun and games. We will read stories, play games, and do crafts that help build familiarity with letters, numbers, colors, our senses, and movement. Geared toward ages 2-5, the Alphabet Hour is full of fun experiences for all ages so don't hesitate to bring the whole crew along.
INSTRUCTIONS (delete this text before you submit) **UPDATED JANUARY, 2024*
- If your event is part of a recurring series, select "Event Repeats" above for more options. Be mindful of selecting ONLY the days your branch is open. It can be helpful to choose the multi-date event picker to select dates. Note that if a recurring event is not set up correctly the first time, the dates or time of the series cannot be modified later. The only way to correct errors after you submit the event is to delete and re-enter the event.
- Don't forget to replace "Fill in Program Name Here" with your program Title (use title case, not all caps), followed by a comma and the Suggested Age. Please follow this format (i.e. "3+ YRS" or "5+ YRS" or "13-18 YRS" or "18+ YRS" etc.). All programs MUST include a recommended age range.
- Replace "Insert description here" with your program Description. Once you're finished setting up your event, please delete these instructions so they are not published for patrons to view.
- The More Info section contains questions that are important for obtaining approval of your event. Provide short answers to each question, then copy all the More Info text (questions and answers) and paste it into the Internal Notes section. Be sure you delete all the text in the More Info section before submitting your event for review so that it doesn't appear in the public listing.
- If you have a Featured Image that we have permission to use or is in the public domain, email it to Brystan at bstrong@jcls.org - do not insert it here (one exception is book covers, which you are welcome to upload). If you don't have an image, we will find one for you.
- Under Event Details, fill in your Library, your name (Event Organizer), Presenter (individual's name + title OR organization's name), add audience type and all category types that apply. Skip the Internal Tags. If you want to include a message to Brystan you can add that to the Internal Note section, ahead of your answers to the "More Info" questions.
- For Event Location, indicate whether your program is in-person, on zoom, or hybrid (both). For InPerson/Location Space select the room you wish to reserve for your program. If a room reservation isn't needed (i.e., it's just taking place in a general open area in your branch), select "No Location". Selecting a meeting room will reserve that space for you. For programs offered only in-person, under "Online Location," choose the option "No Online Location." If your program is online and/or hybrid, you should select "Online Event via Zoom" and enter medref@jcls.org for the Zoom email.
- If you want patrons to be able to reserve their spot in the program, select "Registration is Required." Note that online events require registration. Hybrid events can have a limit for both in-person and online registrations. If the program is only online, enter 0 for in-person registrations. Reach out to Brystan if you have questions about how to set up or manage registrations, email your attendees, etc.
- You can skip the Geolocation and Attachments sections.
- Finally, double-check your work and under the Publishing Status section, submit your event for review
