Lighting Design at OSF, 14+ YRS
Hear from Valerie Pope, Lighting Department Manager for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, on the collaborative theatrical design process, how a designer goes from an idea to a design to the on-stage reality, and what lighting design brings to a production. She'll talk about designing for Shakespeare, and share a sneak peak of some lighting projects for OSF's current season.
Valerie Pope has worked as a Master Electrician, Assistant Lighting Designer and Lighting Designer for 35+ years. Primarily based in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of her career, Val began working at OSF in 2011 - the year of the Bowmer Beam Break! Val's career in lighting spans the genres of theater, dance, opera, special events & musicals. In her current role, she is responsible for all aspects of building, installing, and maintaining lighting and lighting effects for all productions in each of OSF's three theaters.
