Oregon's Grey Whales Tale

Oregon's Grey Whales Tale

Join us for a partial reading of the book Koda and the Whales by Oregon author and Marine Biologist Carrie Newell and illustrated by local artist Jack Weins. This educational book about our Oregon resident Grey Whales teaches children facts about gray whales and their ocean home from the perspective of Carrie's dog, Koda, as its narrator. It is based on true stories and experiences she has had with whales and all three of her dogs for decades while giving whale watching tours out of Depot Bay. Following the reading will be some hands on learning about our local whales as well as Q&A time with one of Carrie's volunteers who has accompanied her on one of her winter trips to Baja Mexico to have close encounters with the mother whales and calves.
