THIS MONTH:
It All Begins with the Blues (and Curtis Salgado)
Why does everything begin with the blues? And what does Oregon have to do with it?
Follow the musical trail from the blues to soul, R&B,rock — and right here to Oregon. Along the way, we'll meet R.L. Burnside, Eugene's Curtis Salgado, whose music connected the blues to Robert Cray, John Belushi, and The Blues Brothers, and talk about the idea of cultural appropriation and its effect on music, artists, and listeners.
Who's your favorite blues artist? What connects you to the blues? Come and share!
