Tales & Tunes of the Hootenanny Heroes, ALL AGES
"Hootenanny? What’s a hootenanny?”, you may ask. The word is Scottish in origin, and it’s the term for a party where people get together to sing folk songs.
In Bob’s historical retrospective, he takes audiences back to the roots of American folk music with tales about this musical genre and the “hootenanny heroes” that fueled its popularity in the 1950’s and 60’s. But it’s the tunes themselves that really bring the show to life. Songs like “Blowin’ In The Wind”, “Tom Dooley” and “This Land Is Your Land” get people clapping their hands and singing along, and that’s what a hootenanny is all about!
Bob Haworth spent nearly half a century on the road singing with The Brothers Four and The Kingston Trio -- two of the top-selling folk music groups of all time.
