Ashland Library Art Salon: Daniel Verner

Ashland Library Art Salon: Daniel Verner

Local artists will discuss the evolution of their art over the years and present digital photos of their work on the last Sunday of each month in the Gresham Room of the Ashland Library.

This month, Art Salon will feature artist Daniel Verner on Sunday, March 25. Verner is a musician and self-taught artist with a great love for all types of artistic expression. He has achieve a considerable amount of skill in painting and representation even though he considers himself an outsider or primitive artist. Without formal training, he has viewed great art in galleries and museums and learned from close observation. Daniel paints from a point of intimacy and connection with his subjects. Whether he is painting people or interesting objects, they take on a quality of life or separate existence that animates and shows their vital essence.

To Verner, painting is about relationship or an interaction of what one person saw, felt and expressed visually for others to share. It is a moment of sharing emotion, insight, and response that he wishes to connect with the viewer. Daniel is well-known in the area as a gifted musician and performs on several string instruments, such as Greek Bouzouki, Russian Balalika, Turkish Oud, and Spanish guitar. Folk music and cultural traditions have been highly influential in his life and art.
