Love your Gut: Learn to Ferment Vegetables for Gut Health and Delicious Flavor
There’s a lot of information swirling around about the benefits of eating fermented foods for overall health that begins in the gut. Learn about fermentation with Kirsten Shockey, fermentation teacher and co-author of Fermented Vegetables and Fiery Ferments at the Ashland Library in the Gresham Room.
Kirsten and Christopher Shockey got their start in fermenting foods at home, then with their farmstead food company, Mellonia Farm. While they love experimenting with new recipes for ferments and krauts, their greatest passion is for sharing the process with others. They now focus primarily on teaching the art of fermenting vegetables.
During this free class, Shockey will demonstrate the simple, extremely safe technique for fermenting vegetables to reap maximum benefits and flavor. She will also discuss the difference between prebiotics and probiotics, and how they affect your digestive system. Bring your questions and your taste buds – there will be samples for you to try.
