Guild Lecture: The History of the Teapot
Camille Korsmo will discuss the origins of tea drinking, tea culture, and teapot design.
Tea drinking became popular in China more than 2000 years ago. Eventually, the teapot was invented there, as well. Europeans found out about tea and teapots at the same time. Many firms were soon making teapots throughout Europe and Britain. It took a couple of centuries to work out the closely-guarded Chinese formula for porcelain, but other new materials were developed.
Enjoy this lecture with local tea and refreshments.
