Storytime for Adults: Everyday Things You Can Do to Help Your Child be Ready to Read!

Storytime for Adults: Everyday Things You Can Do to Help Your Child be Ready to Read!

We know that parents and other close adults have a huge impact on a young child’s development. Fortunately, there are simple things caring adults can do every day to encourage brain development, language acquisition, and early literacy skills. Do you have a baby, toddler, or preschooler in your life? This lively, interactive session will spell out the profound benefits of Storytime-style reading, rhyming, singing, and playing with little ones and give you the hands-on experience you need to take Storytime home with you! Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a library Storytime before. No experience is necessary.

Participants will receive a take-home bag with two board books, a pocket-sized book of rhymes and fingerplays, a shaker egg, a scarf, jumbo crayons, a ball, and more fun Storytime tools to get started at home. Questions? Contact Ellie Anderson at (541) 774-6896 or eanderson@jcls.org.

Note: This program is for adults and will be held outdoors. Childcare will not be provided, though babes in arms are welcome. Masks and distancing required. Space is limited, so registration is required.
