Song of the Redwing: Voice of the Wetlands, 3+ YRS

Song of the Redwing: Voice of the Wetlands, 3+ YRS

Join author Tish McFadden in this one-part program designed around her book, Song of the Redwing, integrating storytelling, music, ecology, and art. Through the eyes of a Redwinged blackbird, children explore a very real, yet dreamlike landscape teeming with texture, color, and light.

Song of the Redwing invites us into the heart of a marsh where wildlife thrives in a landscape of water, earth, and sky. Redwinged blackbirds are among the most common and striking members of this vibrant community. Their primal call is heard across cattail marhes and duckweed swamps in early spring through late fall. Redwings' distinctive wing patch of crimson and gold makes identifying this wild bird easy—even for young children.
